Most people know about horoscopes read in magazines and newspapers but far fewer understand their own sign and what it means. Astrological information is becoming more prominent, particularly on the internet, so that there is now so much different information that some people simply do not know where to start.
Aries
The first sign of the Zodiac is Aries, this being reflected in their personality as they are forceful, brave and have good leadership skills. Arians are born between March 21 and April 19. Aries is represented by a ram and is a fire sign and is ruled by the planet Mars, named for the Roman god of war. Both of these indicate that Arians are unafraid and brave as well as being natural winners.
Taurus
The second sign, with a birth date between April 20 and May 20, is Taurus. Represented by a bull, this group are stubborn and persistent. Ruled by Venus, the Roman godess of love, Taureans like beauty and harmony. As an Earth sign, Taureans are practical, dependable and conservative. They will finish one project before taking on another.
Gemini
Birth dates between May 21 and June 21, this third sign is an air sign, ruled by Mercury - named after the Greek messenger god - and respresented by twins. Geminis are intellectual and talkative and can always see two sides in a situation. They are quick witted and full of energy. This energy making them appear unfocused.
Cancer
The fourth sign is represented by the crab. Cancerians are born between June 22 and July 22. They are homely, domestic and nurturing, being ruled by the Moon - maiden, mother and crone in some Pagan beliefs and Great Mother of the Heavens in some ancient beliefs. A water sign, Cancerians can be very emotional and, in the extreme, can be vengeful towards anyone who causes them - or their families - pain or upset.
Leo
Leo's birth dates are July 23 to August 22. Represented by the lion - king of the jungle - they are born leaders and like to think of themselves as rulers. Being ruled by the Sun, Leos like to be the centre of attention and very often succeed. Leo is a fire sign which explains why they are always eager to jump into a project and lead the way. They are also loyal and dignified which makes them very good leaders.
Virgo
The indulgent and fussy sixth sign with birth dates between August 22 and September 22. Represented by a virgin, Virgos can be modest and practical. An Earth sign ruled by Mercury, Virgos are down to earth and can be over skeptical but usually very reliable.
Libra
The balanced seventh sign, ruled by Venus, represented by scales, Libra is an air sign born between September 23 and October 22. With this mix, Librans are bound to enjoy beautiful things. Librans tend to enjoy high arts, intelligent conversation and fairness although they can come across as lazy while they are more interested in making their world beautiful than in practical pursuits.
