Which signs do Capricorns marry most often? Which are they most likely to divorce? A study of nearly one million people has the answers.

Traditional astrological wisdom holds that Capricorns are most compatible with Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces, and least compatible with Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius. But what do the actual marriage and divorce statistics say?

Capricorn Men

Capricorn men marry Capricorn women most often, but are least likely to divorce Pisces women. As for who they are least likely to marry or most likely to divorce, there was no statistically significant result for any particular sign.

Capricorn and Pisces appear to be a good prospect for long-term love, which reflects the complementary nature of these two signs. Capricorn provides the stable base that Pisces needs, while Pisces encourages Capricorn to come out of his shell, to trust and feel and experience the world. Both signs are inclined to be cautious with money, which lowers the likelihood of financial arguments driving a wedge between them.

Capricorn Women

Capricorn women are also most likely to marry another Capricorn, and tend to avoid marrying Sagittarians, which is in keeping with conventional astrological wisdom. The higher-than-average divorce statistic for Capricorn women and Gemini men is also unsurprising. As for who Capricorn women are least likely to divorce, there was no statistically significant result for any sign.

Capricorn women marry Sagittarius men less often than those of any other sign. The extroverted, risk-taking, blunt-speaking Sagittarian personality is diametrically opposed to the introverted, careful and diplomatic Capricorn persona. The Capricorn is also likely to find the Sagittarius unreliable, while the Sagittarius may find the Capricorn oppressive. Sagittarius is often not the right sign to unlock the hidden Capricorn warmth, and Capricorn is inclined to make Sagittarius feel stifled.

The higher-than-average divorce rate between Capricorn women and Gemini men probably results from a personality clash. Quiet, thoughtful, serious Capricorn and chatty, impulsive, playful Gemini are not the best match for long-term love unless other elements in the chart are very compatible. There is great potential for mutual irritation here, with the Capricorn finding the Gemini “flaky” or undependable, and the Gemini viewing the Capricorn as a “wet blanket.”

Best Match

Two Capricorns make it to the altar more often than any other Capricorn combination, which indicates a high level of compatibility. In addition to shared interests, a restrained nature, and a dislike of sloppy public displays of either affection or anger, Capricorns are usually extremely reliable, responsible and stable, and will appreciate these qualities in a partner.

Capricorn and Pisces also appears to be a particularly good match when the Capricorn is male and the Pisces female.

Study Findings and Traditional Astrological Predictions

In the case of Capricorn, the study findings are in line with traditional astrological predictions. Capricorns are more inclined to choose Capricorns and stay with Pisceans, while avoiding Sagittarians and divorcing Geminis.

Incompatible Matches

Capricorns who find themselves romantically entangled with one of the less compatible signs should not despair. While these findings represent statistical probability, it is important to remember that plenty of marriages between supposedly incompatible signs have lasted.

While some matches are statistically favored over others, astrology is complex, and there is more to take into account than just sun signs. Two people with incompatible sun signs may have highly compatible rising signs (ascendants) or moon signs that can make the difference between a bad match and a good match with a bit of an “edge” that keeps things interesting.
