Virgos value intelligence above style and stability above dramatic intensity in both romantic relationships and friendships. They do best with calm, practical, reasonable companions who have a passion for learning and intellectual exploration.
Cautious and Selective
Virgos are very choosy when it comes to friends and lovers—they won’t hang around with just anyone. Virgos can fall in love, but it takes a very special person to win them over as they are independent and afraid of being hurt. They don’t like to be vulnerable to others and love is the greatest vulnerability. Some Virgos are voluntarily single because of this caution.
Considerate and Reserved
Virgos are slow to trust and less likely to engage in spontaneous hugging and other physical demonstrations of affection until they know someone very well, and even then, such demonstrations may not be frequent. However, when Virgos do show physical affection, companions can be sure that it is a genuine expression of friendship or love rather than a meaningless gesture offered to anyone. For Virgos, ideal companions are those who appreciate love shown through considerate and helpful actions rather than romantic words and gestures.
Inquisitive and Analytical
Virgos have a strong intellectual curiosity about other people and this intense focus may sometimes be mistaken for romantic interest. Being analytical and hungry for knowledge, Virgos want to learn what makes their friends and lovers tick. They like to know how things work, and how to do things, often spending quite a bit of free time researching topics of interest to generate practical knowledge and skills, and they appreciate companions who have useful knowledge to impart.
Self-Controlled and Reasonable
Virgos make very reasonable and intellectually stimulating companions, not prone to squander money or pick fights. Classy and self-controlled by nature, Virgos are unlikely to make ugly scenes or exploit the vulnerabilities of others. Most are low-maintenance partners and friends who don’t make excessive demands or thrive on drama. Virgos also tend to be fastidious, and have difficulty dealing with those who are careless about personal hygiene.
Nurturing and Practical
Virgos seek to create calm, healthy environments in which friends and lovers can thrive, and offer practical assistance and support to those in need. Most Virgos have an interest in fitness, health, and nutrition, and use this knowledge to positively influence the habits of those around them. These fitness and health interests may lead to a love of certain sports or other fitness activities, and ideally, friends and lovers will share these interests.
Introverted and Active
Most Virgos are somewhat introverted and need to spend time alone, though when they do socialize, they prefer to do something intellectually or physically active rather than just watching television or engaging in other undemanding activities. Typical Virgos like to be exercising either their bodies or their minds at all times, and quickly grow restless when not on the move mentally or physically.
Strong in Adversity
Virgos are wonderful to have around when a friend, family member, or partner is in need, because the typical Virgo will do what’s necessary to ensure that any sick or vulnerable person is well taken care of. Virgos are often at their best when situations or other people are at their worst, providing practical help and applying common sense to solve problems, but although they project a calm demeanor, Virgos are natural worriers. Ideal companions encourage Virgos to share their anxieties and help them put these fears and obsessive thoughts into perspective so that they don’t become overwhelming.
The Atypical Virgo
The sun sign isn’t the only element that influences personality. Aspects and planetary placements, particularly the moon sign and rising sign (ascendant), are also important. For example, a Virgo with Sagittarius rising will be more laid back, extroverted, and careless, and with Leo rising, the Virgo is less cautious and more optimistic and romantic. Taurus rising will enhance the practical, down-to-earth side of Virgo, while Aquarius rising brings out the intellectual, experimental side at the expense of practicality.
